Initial FindThe wreck of the Ayrshire was discovered accidentally some years ago by John Boyd, Chairman of the Sullom Voe Sub Aqua Club and SAA Regional Instructor. |

The site was imediately apparent when John entered the water, below him on the sand a row of pins could clearly be seen prodruding from the seabed. Further investigations by John and other members of the Sullom Voe Sub Aqua Club brought to light the Capstan, one Anchor and a number of iron objects later found to be Knees (large brackets used to join the deck to the hull) |
